Water Lab, Drinking Water & Pools

The TriCounty health Department water lab plays a key role in protecting public health by monitoring water quality. The water lab provides the scientific data needed to keep water safe and to prevent water-related diseases in the community. The lab collects and analyzes water samples from sources such as public drinking water systems, private wells, swimming pools, lakes, and rivers.

Scientists and technicians test these samples for bacteria (like E. coli), chemicals (such as lead, nitrates, or pesticides), and physical characteristics (like turbidity or pH). If unsafe levels are found, TriCounty Health can take action — such as issuing advisories, requiring treatment, or working with water system operators — to prevent illness and environmental harm.
