Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding has many benefits for babies and mothers. Doctors recommend babies be breastfed for at least the first year of life.
Did you know that we have nurses who are certified WIC Peer Counselors? These staff members are here to help you with whatever you need to successfully breastfeed. We are equipped with designated breastfeeding rooms to provide one-on-one lactation consults and breastfeeding classes to expecting moms, new moms, or simply moms who are struggling to breastfeed a new baby after successfully breastfeeding their other children.
How a WIC peer Counselor Can Help You:
- Provide tips for how to breastfeed comfortably, even in public.
- Share ways you can stay close to your baby through breastfeeding after you return to work or school.
- Come up with ideas for getting support from your family and friends.
- Share ways to get a good start with breastfeeding.
- Provide tips for making plenty of breast milk for your baby.
- Help with breastfeeding concerns.
